A poem I wrote for a friend
The Dying Breed
His hand in yours, I must concur
I acknowledge your care daily
You are on my mind
You are in my heart
From this world we will all part
I spoke to you about the reasons
We need to find the strength to let go
When a heart and mind isn’t married anymore
It can leave us cold by the shore
I implore, you
Have a mighty courage
You have the greatest strength
You’ve already done a thousand lengths
Keep swimming you say
I throw out my life wreath to you, today
The waters you thread wane so deep
The sun, moon and stars
Crossed our paths for deity
A daughters love for her father
Goes beyond any reality
You don’t just keep afloat
You are wrapped in an enormous cloak
Magical offerings of help and sharing
Listening to your words in loops
Sweet words seeping through your golden hoops
There are not many like you around
Dear pal that I found
You are on my mind
You are in my heart
From this world we will all part.
A birthday poem to a special woman who minds her father.
