Who are your teachers?

Oh this life! Sure everyday is a blessing, really, isnt it?

I am beginning to notice more and more who my teachers are along this path. We always feel as children that our parents and our school teachers are supposed to be our teachers but as life progresses in the adultworld! I realise that every opportunity is a lesson to be learned. Every person we meet will tell us a little more about ourselves. When certain individuals cause irritation and difficulty we can look inside to see why this may be happening or we can ignore it and just be annoyed by them and carry on feeling frustrated and angry and let that tension build up over hours, days, months and even years. It can be the man in the street who cant work his phone and is shouting - (he may need our help) or the church going neighbour who constantly complains about a friends bike being parked in the hallway, (thats actually not causing any trouble at all, but shes just lonely and needs to show her authority, shine her ego a little) or your child who is maturing and asking questions, know that this is an opportunity for a little spiritual lesson, or a friend who is unhappy with their career or their partner and are basically blaming that for their own unhappiness within.

All of these things can be sorted in an instant. What do you want?

Its interesting to observe how we deal, act and react within certain situations. Do we get frustrated when a partner expects dinner made every night for the family? Do we get paranoid when our partner talks about someone they are working with? Why does this happen? Well because its the ego's way of telling us that we are not good enough. This is most likely because of a situation that has already happened in our past that has lead us to believe this might happen again. Most of the time we are living our lives based on knowledge of what has happened to us in our past. We constantly make up different scenarios in our day to day lives of what could happen to us. Why do we do this? Most likely because we are not happy in our own skin and because we are not living in our truest form, we are not happy within our selves and we are not living in the present.

Our expectations of other people is what drives us all mad. Why should we have to commit to doing something for a partner on a daily basis? Is that what love is?
The more I live the more I think that spontaneity is what keeps love alive. I know its hard to be spontaneous when you have 3 mouths to feed everyday, but sharing the workload is what makes a relationship work. It should not be left to one person to make the dinners or do the laundry just because that person works less or is home earlier. What a chore! Its boring and it will only lead to anxiety, self doubt, upset and defo regret. Expectations are for buzzkillers.

Taking time to understand why something is bothering me has been one of my greatest lessons and gifts of being ill. Our parents and friends we grew up with might have completely different moral compasses, values and ideals than us and thats fine. Trying to navigate what they think might be best for you and knowing deep down what is best for ourselves can be a real struggle but knowing yourself and feeling what is best for us is what we must know about ourselves. (I feel we can only achieve this when we sit in silence. Be with ourselves. Take time to know who we really are. It may take some time. I felt as though lately I had to shut down all social media accounts to give my head that time and space. We are so bombarded with it all the time) Then working out our ideas with our partner is the next step as well, we all have varying careers and lifeplans to a degree. Whats your plans for the next week, the next 6 months? next year? We dont need to know anything else and by that I mean plans to better your life, to make it more wholesome. To have more time to do the things you love, alone and together. How you going to do that?

(I feel this when I go into visit my oncologist. I get so confused. I know she feels shes the best at what she does in guiding me along my cancer treatment path, as thats the degree of her knowledge. To give me medicine to keep the cancer at bay. But I feel as though theres alot thats missing to the approach that doesnt suit me and thats the side that I want to explore more - the emotional and spiritual side of why a body gets a disease. Hence I am no longer on treatments again to try and figure out aspects of myself I need to look at. I want to try and heal myself, give my body a chance. And taking chemo is not a lifelong plan. Thats putting a bandage over a big gaping wound.)

When we are not living in our truest form - it becomes so obvious. I listen to people daily complain about their lives, about their careers, about their relationships and what they want in their lives. I was the same dreaming about material goods to fill a big gaping hole in my soul a few years ago. Dreaming of how I am going to make enough money to have a bigger home and more nice things, for what? Now I think what an idiot I was. Its all just an illusion. Why did I need all that. Was it because I wasnt happy or it was all I knew at that moment in time.  I wasnt aware of the other things that were on offer. It took me getting a disease to realise what life was really all about. Playing the dice with death.

You see there are two types of people in this world the materialists and the spiritualists. Now dont get me wrong I still love beautiful things, but I am not consumed by them anymore. I am happy with the simple life now. A massive car isnt going to bring me as much happiness as having the strength to climb a mountain and having a picnic at the top of it.

We all have the power to change anything we want to change, in an instant. So why dont we? What are we afraid of? Failure? Fear of loosing our partner? Fear of change? Fear of becoming bankrupt, loosing our home? Fear of what the neighbours will think?

What if you asked yourself these questions when facing something. Be honest. Write the answers down. Come back to them.

1. Whats the problem?
2. What are you feeling physically? (pain, sore, sick)
3. What are you feeling emotionally? (are you irritated, resentful, angry, frustrated, sad)
4. What are the repetitive thoughts? (write every one of them down)
5. Whats the worst that could happen?
6. Whats the best that could happen?
7. Why isnt that ideal a reality in your life?
8. What duties or affirmations can you come up with that goes against this struggle?

A belief is just a word we have accepted. It can drive you or kill you!

Dare to dream....I think success is the ability from going from one failure to another so you have a good backlog of laughable stories. Nothing is worthwhile if it wasnt hard to get.

Having spent a few days in contemplation I devised a little plan for myself. Steps that can maybe ease myself into my life I want. Isnt it gas really. A few weeks ago I thought I could have been dying and now I am making future plans. Sure what else would I be doing!! Heres my conscious awareness steps. 😱

1. Hope & Belief. The law of attraction is all about believing, through visualisation that what you want to achieve is actually happening at this moment in time. For me - that I am living my healthiest life in the best way I can be and so I am.
2. Surround yourself with people who support you. In my case its to surround myself with people who believe I am healing. Recognise fear and those people who live in that cycle. Try and dissolve that.
3. Meditation - Intuition - Speak and ask your own soul what you want to do. Whats best for you. Awareness of thyself comes from the inner knowing. I found that by sitting in silence I can understand myself and my needs.
4. Lead yourself to the root cause. Of your anger, or frustration. In my case how did I create this cancer? Emotionally, physically. And realise that I am good enough. That I need not be a people pleaser. We just need to be ourselves and not to be too controlling.
5. Surrender to all of our emotions. Let it go. Our body is the barometer to the soul. Whatever is going on in our universe is going to be expressed through ailments in our body etc.
6. Love and unleash the inner you. Enjoy every moment, unleash yourself into nature, eat beautiful food. Take your time, exercise your body gently. Dont be too hard on yourself.
